Abstract

Security Sector Reform and Contribution of the Romanian Armed Forces within the Framework of EU Commitments. The article addresses the basic concepts of Security Sector Reform (SSR), the European Union (EU) agenda on SSR, and Romania's contribution to the EU's operational commitments. SSR aims to improve the capabilities of security institutions while respecting the rule of law and human rights, and promoting transparency and accountability. The EU considers SSR crucial for its foreign and security policy. It emphasizes systematic and long-term support to enhance the defense and security capacities of partner countries. Romania actively participates in EU operations and missions, contributing to the stabilization of crisis regions and strengthening security institutions. Its role includes training, mentoring and advising to enhance local capacities.
