Publication History
With a long history of more than six decades since its establishment, Studia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai (Studia UBB) is one of the leading academic journals in Romania. Published for the first time in 1955, in the Social Sciences series and the Natural Sciences series of the Newsletter of “V. Babeș” and “Bolyai” Universities in Cluj, the Journal merged into Studia Universitatum Victor Babeş et Bolyai in 1957. Since 1958, the journal changed its name to Studia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai.
From 1962 onwards, Studia UBB has been published as a separate series (with a brief hiatus in 1974, when it reunited multiple series again).
The journal was gradually upgraded and modernized after 2000 to reflect and at the same time, enhance the inclusion into a broader, global academic culture. This essential process also implied a diversification of our research areas, an openness to a wider range of theoretical and scientific approaches, as well as a permanently renewed availability for publishing cutting-edge, innovative research studies.
Since 2017, all scientific articles have a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number provided by CrossRef.
From September 2021 onwards, all Studia UBB series change their status to OPEN ACCESS journals.
All articles published in Studia UBB are fully open access: immediately freely available to read, download and share. Studia UBB does not charge authors any kind of publication fees or article processing charges.
Articles are published under the terms of a Creative Commons license which permits, without charge, use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
