The Moral Legacy of Pope Francis. We began our paper with the assumption that it’s unfair to look only forward to the immediate future, without looking back at the way we have traveled under the guidance and discernment of the “prophets” of our lifetime, among whom stands out the figure of Pope Francis. He charted the tortuous path of the Church, faith, and morality from 2013 to 2025, and has lovingly taught us not only to understand the world we live in, but also how to view it to understand its evolution. We realized that the secret of his look achieves not in the armchair and the height of the terrace, but in encounter, dialogue, and discernment with the individual and the concrete Christian who questions and is challenged by the events of daily life in the light of the Word of God and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we believe that “The Moral Legacy of Pope Francis” cannot be seen as a visit to a document archive, but rather as a living dialogue with his spiritual and intellectual profile, aiming to identify the key elements of his thought and the sources of inspiration that have shaped his pontifical and pastoral journey. The documents developed and published during his pontificate reflect his understanding of social and ecclesial reality, but also the background of his rich human and spiritual experiences, capable of continually inspiring and illuminating the moral choices of Christians at every level of Christian existence.
