Introduction
Abstract

The present issue of our journal publishes a part of the presentations that have been held at the Humboldt Conference “Faces of the Gods, Gods without Faces”, which took place between 24-26 October 2025. The conference was financially supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Bonn/Bad Godesberg, Germany) and hosted by the Babeș-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and organized by the Department of Ancient History and Archaeology of the university.
The conference was attended by 20 participants from seven countries, whose lectures explored various aspects of cults and religions from prehistory and ancient history, cults and religions where the deities are either known as imagery and representation, but whose characteristics are still a mystery, or faiths whose aspects are better known, but there are no images of their gods.
As it often happens, not all lectures presented at the conference have been also reshaped as articles to be published here, but we hope that those that are published now will capture the interest of historians of ancient religions and of archaeologists with a penchant for the study of ancient spirituality.
